Company Profile

Imbono FJA Architects CC was founded in February 2004 as a result of the merging of Imbono Projects Solutions CC (Est. 2002) and FJA Architects CC(Formerly Fjord Jordaan Architects (Est. 1996)).

The Xhosa word- IMBONO- directly translated into English - Vision- is the basis upon which the company seeks to service its clients.

The firm offers their services across the Eastern and Southern Cape.

Strategic alliances in major centres such as Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban enable the firm to carry out projects throughout Southern Africa.

Our clients are the life blood of our firm and as such we focus our actions and activities on meeting their needs and aspirations. Every project is run by one of the Members of the firm ensuring individual attention and expert knowledge is employed onto every scheme.

We pride ourself in the ability to balance the “art of architecture” and the “discipline of management” to ensure a successfully procured project.

Every project is undertaken with the aim of:

  • Maximizing its potential
  • Ensuring that it is completed within budget and
  • Ensuring that a positive contribution is made to the Environment, the Community and the Client

Capacity and Infrastructure:

Imbono FJA Architects CC consists of 4 registered Managing Members based throughout the Eastern Cape.

All Management and Technical staff are registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession and the Firm is registered with the Institute of Architects.

The dynamic nature of the company allows for the sharing of information, staff and other resources with our clients and consultants.

All offices offer Revit, Autocad and Caddie design technology and are fully equipped with the latest IT infrastructure.

Other software applications and capabilities include:

Word Processing Packages- both Microsoft Word and Corel WordPerfect, Spreadsheet Software such as Microsoft Excel, Project Management Software, Graphic Design software, A1 to A4 Colour Plotting Facilities, FTP space accessibility for the sharing of project files and data.


The firm is committed to capacity building and to skills development of Previously Disadvantaged Individuals both within the firm and within the communities in which we live and work.

This is achieved through:

  1. Bursary schemes for learners at Tertiary Education Institutions.
  2. Ongoing or “Continued Professional Development” training of staff in the skills and expertise required for the profession.

Our staff is of key importance, as such we encourage a balanced lifestyle, individual thought and expression and endeavour to create a positive work environment and work ethic.
